Ultimatum for CPP-NPA-NDF Ceasefire Declaration

A group of Citizen Armed Force Geographical Unit (CAFGU) was allegedly ambushed by the Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP)-New People’s Army (NPA) in Davao del Norte on 27 July 2016 resulting to a death of one militiaman and wounding four others. The President on 29 July visited the wake of Panggong Komanod, the recently Killed in Action (KIA) CAFGU, in the Philippine Army 60th Infantry Battalion headquarters in Asuncion, Davao del Norte.

The President has given the communist rebels until 5PM of 30 July 2016 to declare a ceasefire. after a report that Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP)-New People’s Army (NPA) allegedly ambushed a group of Citizen Armed Force Geographical Unit (CAFGU) in Davao del Norte on 27 July 2016.

“So I am asking you - are you ready to declare a ceasefire or not? I will… alas singko ng hapon. I will wait for that declaration, alas singko rin bukas ng hapon. That is a good 24 hours. If I don’t get a word from you then I will lift the order of ceasefire.”, the President said in his statement.●
