Edgar Matobato Files Complaint Against Duterte at Ombudsman
Edgar Matobato, a self-proclaimed Davao Death Squad (DDS) assassin, through his lawyer, Jude Sabio, filed criminal and administrative complaints at the Office of the Ombudsman on the morning of 9 December 2016 against the President Rodrigo Roa Duterte, Davao City Vice Mayor Paolo Duterte, PNP Chief Director General Ronald dela Rosa and 25 others over alleged summary killings in Davao City.
Matobato accused the President of violating the following:
- Article 248 of the Revised Penal Code or murder
- Article 267 of the Revised Penal Code or kidnapping
- Republic Act 9745 or the Anti-Torture Act
- Republic Act 9851 or the Philippine Act on Crimes Against International Humanitarian Law, genocide and other Crimes Against Humanity

According to Philippine Star, Matobato’s camp said in a statement, “In his affidavit, Matobato said the DDS is responsible for over a thousand murders from 1988 until he left the group sometime in September 2013. He also added the group’s main targets were robbers, rapists and other suspected criminals in Davao.” ●
