Visit to Bombing Victims in Hilongos, Leyte

The President visited the Hilongos District Hospital in Leyte and provided financial assistance and scholarship to the graduating students who were among the 26 victims of the Hilongos bombing on December 28, 2016.

Out of the 33 confirmed injured during the explosion, 27 people were treated in the Hilongos District Hospital. Three more were rushed to the Eastern Visayas Regional Medical Center in Tacloban City, Leyte and another three at the Living Hope Hospital in Maasin City, Southern Leyte.

During his visit, the local police briefed President Duterte about the Leyte bombing investigation in a closed-door meeting at the said hospital.

Two out of three improvised explosive devices (IEDs) planted by suspected illegal drug elements at the Hilongos Town Plaza exploded and injured 33 people watching a live boxing match during the town fiesta on December 28, 2016. There were no casualties.
